Jatinder Verma

Artistic Director, Tara Arts

Born in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, Jatinder grew up in Nairobi, and was part of the mass Kenyan exodus to Britain in the late 1960s. In 1977, he co-founded Tara Arts with a mission to reflect genuine Asian experience. In 1990, he became the first Asian director to stage a play at the National Theatre. Jatinder directs and writes for radio drama, has published several articles and is a regular contributor to radio and TV on both arts and current affairs programmes. He is a frequent speaker at conferences both in Britain and overseas, and has written and presented several radio documentary programmes
