Sustained Theatre International at 'Riksteatern Theatre Days'

Sustained Theatre is taking part in the forthcoming 'Riksteatern Theatre Days' Sweden (Nov 19th - Nov 21st)

Programmed over three days, 'Riksteatern Theatre Days' events focus upon a range of items that develop understanding of internationalism through theatre practise.

As part of Sustained Theatres ongoing work with Internationalism, key seminars and presentations will be made by Sustained Theatre and artists from the UK Sector. These events are alongside contributions from Artistic Directors Baba Israel (Contact Theatre, Manchester) and John McGrath (National Youth Theatre of Wales).

A key discussion/seminar is also to be hosted on the development of a North European Theatre Network. Contributing are Sustained Theatre representatives Oscar Watson, Pervaiz Khan, Isobel Hawson, Nazli Tabatabai-Khatambakhsh, Kully Thiarai and Pat Cumper.

The Seminar will focus on :

  • What kind of platform we need to create an intercultural dialogue, creative collaborations and the market today?
  • How can artists themselves discuss and influence the future of culture and how diversity is linked to sustainable development?

Writers Lab:
Sharing of new writing, by black writers, being developed for audiences in rural UK locations, in collaboration with Theatre Writing Partnership and the National Rural Touring Forum. There will be rehearsed readings of extracts from 'The Honeyman' by Tyrone Huggins and 'Palm Wine and Stout' by Segun Lee-French followed by a discussion with the writers about the process of creating work for rural audiences.

Performances:
"Security" is an acclaimed monologue of British spoken word artist and musician. Zena Edwards is an artist who captivates with lyrical, musical and street-smart poetry, "The Verb" - BBC Radio 3.
